Jelly Roll has acknowledged a setback in his weight loss journey, which has seen him shed 275 pounds over three years. In a recent YouTube video, the 41-year-old singer admitted that he has not adhered to his diet since the 2025 holiday season.
Injury and Indulgence
“Kind of got off the rails, and I broke my collarbone a few days before Christmas,” he explained. “I had to quit running, quit walking, quit exercising for some extended period of time.” He added, “I said all that to say, I have, to some degree, lost my way.” Jelly Roll confessed that he is still about 40 to 60 pounds away from his goal, but has avoided weighing himself. “I’ve been avoiding the scale. I’m afraid to see what the scale is going to say,” he said.
Stepping on the Scale
However, on April 10, he decided to face the scale, revealing a weight of 276.2 pounds — a 12-pound increase. In his vlog, he outlined new objectives, including training for the New York City Marathon in November and shedding the remaining 40 to 50 pounds. “I eventually want to cut my skin, and I eventually want to be on the cover of something crazy, like GQ or Rolling Stone with my shirt off,” the “Wild Ones” singer said. “I just believe there’s a story that a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt off picture. It’s absurd.”
Past Success and Therapy
During a January interview with Men’s Health, Jelly Roll first revealed he had lost 275 pounds. He detailed his early steps, including seeking therapy for his “food addiction.” “Even before I got into getting my blood work done, I went and got mental health therapy about my overeating,” he told the publication. “I started treating my food addiction like what it was: an addiction.” With guidance from nutrition advisors, including a medical team at Ways2Well and chef Ian Larios, he lost weight through whole foods and exercise.
Ongoing Updates
Jelly Roll has provided regular updates on his fitness journey. In April 2025, he shared on Pat McAfee’s Big Night AHT show that he had gone from 540 pounds to 357 pounds. In October 2024, he announced a 100-pound loss. Despite the recent setback, he remains determined to reach his goals.
