Chris Hughton, the former Tottenham Hotspur star and Brighton & Hove Albion manager, has bravely spoken for the first time about his battle with prostate cancer, revealing that he underwent surgery last year and is now cancer-free.
The 67-year-old football icon was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2025. He underwent successful surgery and has since been given the all-clear.
Hughton's Reaction to Diagnosis
Hughton said: “The news certainly didn’t scare me. I know everyone is different, but my first impression was: ‘I’ll be fine.’
“I didn’t instantly think 'this is probably just going to kill me'. I just thought: 'Ok, we’ll have to do what we have to do.'”
A Storied Career
Hughton is an iconic figure at Tottenham Hotspur, having made 398 appearances for the North London club during his playing career. He has also managed them on three occasions as interim boss.
His managerial career includes spells with Newcastle United, Norwich City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Nottingham Forest. His most recent role was with the Ghana national side, which ended in January 2024.
