Woman loses 120lbs with one simple rule after seatbelt wake-up call
Woman loses 120lbs with one simple rule

A 28-year-old woman who shed an incredible 120lbs (over eight stone) has shared her powerful story, urging others to avoid quick-fix fad diets this January and instead focus on lasting lifestyle changes.

From Daily Takeaways to a Life-Changing Moment

Daisie Jenson, a street works assurance manager from Dartford, Kent, had always battled with her weight. However, her struggles intensified between 2019 and 2023, when a period of severe anxiety led to emotional and binge eating. She gained five stone (31.75kg), reaching her peak weight of 21 stone 8lb (136.96kg).

At 5ft 9.5in tall, Daisie had an obese BMI of 44 and wore size 20 clothing. Her diet at the time consisted of one takeaway every weekday and takeaways for almost every meal on weekends, supplemented by secretive snacking on multiple packs of biscuits and family-sized crisp bags.

The pivotal moment came in June 2023 on a flight to Tenerife. "I realised I could barely fasten my seatbelt," Daisie recalled. That experience, coupled with a warning from her GP about her increased risk of heart attack, made "something click".

The Sustainable Path: One Stone a Month

In July 2023, Daisie began The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan. The core of her success was maintaining a consistent calorie deficit—consuming fewer calories than her body burned. She started by having four nutritionally-complete meal replacement products daily, under the guidance of a consultant.

The results were dramatic and steady. She lost an average of one stone (6.35kg) per month. To support her journey, she also drastically cut her alcohol intake, drank four litres of water daily, and attended personal training sessions.

"I was quite worried at the start," she admitted, considering her previous high-calorie intake. "But everything was grab and go so I couldn't overthink what I was eating... I found working out calories so hard on other diets."

A New Life: Confidence, Health, and Awards

Today, Daisie weighs 12 stone 10.5lb (80.96kg), wears a size 14, and has moved from an obese to an overweight BMI of 26. The transformation extends far beyond the scales.

Her mental health has soared. "My anxiety is a lot better, my mind is a lot quieter," she said. Physical benefits include the disappearance of previous back pain and doctors noting a higher chance of conceiving despite her PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome).

In November 2025, her incredible change was recognised when she won Transformation of the Year at The 1:1 Diet awards. Looking ahead, Daisie is confident she will maintain her weight loss and plans to focus on a long-term maintenance plan.

Her advice to others is clear: "You need to change your lifestyle and know it can't really be a temporary change." She advocates taking it one day at a time, not rushing, and enjoying the process of feeling better. "It's the best thing I've ever done," she concluded.
