Britney Spears has broken her silence after leaving rehab following her conviction for driving under the influence, describing the ordeal as a "blessing in disguise." The 44-year-old singer and mother of two was arrested on suspicion of DUI on March 4 and later pleaded guilty in court.
Sentencing and Rehab
She was sentenced to 12 months of probation and spent three weeks in a rehabilitation centre to address substance abuse and mental health issues. The time away from the spotlight appears to have been transformative for the star.
Spiritual Awakening
Taking to Instagram, Britney shared a photo of herself holding a baby yellow and white snake, writing: "Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is…" She added: "Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I'm so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…"
Britney also reflected on her personal growth, stating: "I need to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself. It's a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!"
Court Proceedings
Britney did not attend her court hearing in person; her lawyer, Michael Goldstein, entered a guilty plea on her behalf at the Ventura County Superior Court. In addition to probation, she was ordered to complete a three-month drug and alcohol education programme, pay a $721 fine, and attend weekly sessions with a psychologist and bi-monthly appointments with a psychiatrist. The court also ruled that police may search her vehicle if she is stopped again.
Speaking outside the court, Goldstein said: "Miss Spears is doing well. She came home in anticipation of this hearing."
Rehab Facility
Following her arrest, Britney checked into Borden Cottage in Maine, a rehab clinic with a minimum stay of 45 days costing an estimated $140,000, according to Recovery.com.
Family Matters
Britney missed a family reunion that included her parents, sister, and both sons attending the high school graduation of her niece, the eldest daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney shares two sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden (19), with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Britney rose to fame in 1998 with her hit "...Baby One More Time" and continues to navigate her personal and professional life under public scrutiny.
