Conjoined twin reveals how she respects sister's boundaries during intimate moments with husband

Conjoined twin Carmen Andrade has opened up about how she and her sister Lupita navigate intimate moments with her husband Daniel McCormack, whom she married in October 2024. The couple met on the dating app Hinge in 2020 and now live in Connecticut.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Carmen explained that the sisters are 'constantly talking' about their comfort levels. If Lupita is not comfortable with a private moment, such as cuddling or couple chat, Carmen said they 'respect that'. Lupita, who is asexual, added that she uses headphones and her phone to distract herself, saying: 'I don’t care.'

The twins, originally from Mexico, share some ribs, their entire circulatory system, and their digestive and reproductive systems, but each have their own heart, lungs, and stomach. Separation surgery was deemed too risky due to potential neurological problems or death.

Carmen noted that she is not overly affectionate, stating: 'I think there's a certain societal expectation that there needs to be affection the entire time within a relationship. But all we do is joke around a lot of the time.' She admitted that she and Daniel often feel 'kind of guilty' for the time they spend together but try to balance it.

Daniel expressed frustration with public curiosity, saying: 'People are obsessed with sex, you know? And it is just like, frankly, it’s none of your f**king business.' Carmen added: 'I don’t understand why people need to know about my private parts in order to humanize us.'
