Tragic Death of Ohio Grandmother in Deer Enclosure
A 64-year-old grandmother from Ohio, Jodi Proger, has died following a tragic incident involving a rescued deer on her property in Stewartsville. The fatal event occurred on 15 November 2025, when Mrs Proger was found trapped inside a deer enclosure and attacked by a buck.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Police were forced to shoot one aggressive male deer in order to reach Mrs Proger. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Ohio Departments of Natural Resources and Agriculture have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. This includes examining the deer's housing conditions and its legal status.
A Life Dedicated to Wildlife Rescue
Jodi Proger had devoted 12 years to rehabilitating whitetail deer. Her passion for this work began back in 2013, after she successfully rescued a fawn whose mother had been killed. Her daughter, Jennifer Bryan, has since spoken out, refuting online speculation that a specific deer named 'Wheezer' was responsible for the attack. Ms Bryan stated that Wheezer had been neutered and emphasised that her mother was fully aware of the inherent dangers involved in her work.
