Former AFL superstar Lance 'Buddy' Franklin and his model wife Jesinta have unveiled a dramatic lifestyle transformation, trading city living for a rural retreat on the Gold Coast hinterland as they anticipate the arrival of their third child.
From Sydney Spotlight to Bush Freedom
The couple disclosed to Stellar magazine that their decision to leave Sydney three years ago proved life-changing, particularly after becoming parents to daughter Tullulah, now five, and son Rocky, four. "I absolutely loved my time living in Sydney," Buddy confessed. "But when we had kids, things changed – it felt a little bit too chaotic there."
He revealed that the constant attention from photographers created a suffocating atmosphere in the city, making family life challenging. Jesinta echoed her husband's sentiments, explaining that even their initial move to suburban Gold Coast didn't provide the seclusion they sought.
The Call of the Country
The turning point came during Jesinta's current pregnancy when visiting Buddy's childhood home in rural Western Australia. "When Bud says he was born in the bush, he was literally born in the bush… big beautiful ghost gums, red-earth roads – it's stunning," she recounted.
This experience crystallised their vision for their children's upbringing. After merely a year in their coastal neighbourhood, they decided to pursue a more remote lifestyle where they could raise animals, grow fresh produce and grant their children freedom to explore.
The family is now amidst relocating to an acreage property mere weeks before their new baby arrives, with Jesinta joking she's "crossing her legs" to ensure the birth doesn't precede the unpacking.
Sweet Business Venture
Parallel to their tree change, the Franklins have embarked on a new joint business enterprise that aligns with their rekindled passion for nature. They've become co-owners of Honey For Life, a raw, organic Manuka honey brand based in Western Australia.
Jesinta described the venture as a natural extension of their values, particularly drawn to the brand's commitment to sustainability. "When Honey For Life came up, there was this beautiful ecology to the brand," she explained, noting the business emphasises land regeneration and ethical beekeeping practices.
"Bees are so important to our survival," she added, underscoring their commitment to environmental stewardship.
The couple recently sold their luxurious Gold Coast property, Villa Casa, which featured a two-storey main residence with multiple living areas, a substantial pool, entertainment deck, and separate guest house with Spanish-inspired architectural details.
This comprehensive lifestyle overhaul represents the Franklin family's determined pursuit of space, sustainability and serenity as they prepare to expand their family in their new rural sanctuary.
