Ariana Grande Confirms New Album 'Petal' With July Release Date
Ariana Grande Confirms New Album Petal for July Release

Ariana Grande has officially confirmed the release date of her eighth studio album, Petal, which is set to arrive later this summer amid her ongoing Eternal Sunshine tour. The 32-year-old pop star made the announcement on Tuesday, sharing a photo of the album cover featuring a beaming portrait of herself alongside the title.

Album Details and Release

The forthcoming 12-track album, Petal, will be released on July 31, just over a year after she dropped Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead. The announcement comes ahead of her highly anticipated Eternal Sunshine tour, which kicks off in June with performances in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago, and Montreal, before concluding with 10 nights at London's O2 Arena in August and September.

Grande described Petal as "something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging." Since the news broke, her social media post has garnered nearly 2 million likes, with fans flooding the comments with excitement. One fan wrote, "This is gonna be so special," while another added, "My Godness!! I'm so ready!" A third commented, "I keep coming back to this post every 8 minutes because I just don't believe it's real."

Behind the Scenes and Future Plans

The singer teased the album earlier this month by sharing photos of herself in the recording studio with Swedish producer and songwriter Max Martin. Sources close to the singer described it as an "exciting time" for Grande, with a TMZ insider noting she was "super excited" about the release. However, Grande has also confirmed that she plans to take a step back after the tour.

Speaking to Amy Poehler on the Good Hang podcast, Grande said: "I'm very excited to do this small tour. But I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time. I'm going to give it my all, and it's going to be beautiful, and I'm so grateful. I think that's why I'm doing it. Because I'm like, one last hurrah. For now." She explained that her pop career had consumed her life, but now she feels more connected to herself and her art, adding: "I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theatre and comedy, so I think the thing that will be best for my soul and for my art is chasing things that feel very right in the moment, even if it's spontaneous and something different."

Career Milestones and Upcoming Projects

Details about Petal remain scarce, but the album follows Grande's major film debut in the cinematic adaptation of the musical Wicked, alongside Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey. Grande portrayed Glinda in the box office smash, which was split into two instalments, earning her a maiden Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

The Grammy-winning pop sensation first rose to fame on the Nickelodeon series Victorious and its spin-off Sam and Cat before transitioning to music. Her career exploded in 2013 with her debut album Yours Truly. Since then, she has scored seven UK number one singles, including "7 Rings," "Thank U, Next," and "Positions," as well as five UK number one albums, including her 2024 release Eternal Sunshine. Grande will also appear in Focker-In-Law, the fourth film in the Meet The Parents franchise, scheduled for release in November, marking the franchise's return after a 16-year absence.
