In a stunning revelation, evicted I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Jack Osbourne has confessed to breaking one of the show's strictest rules before he even set foot in the jungle camp. The 40-year-old, who left the ITV series on Friday night alongside Lisa Riley, admitted he smuggled a mobile phone into his quarantine hotel.
The Phone Smuggling Operation
Osbourne detailed how he deceived security upon landing in Australia. Contestants are required to spend four days in isolation with no outside contact to prevent them from learning details about the upcoming series. However, Jack revealed to The Sun that he had "s*** to do" and wanted to stay in touch with his wife, Aree, 34, and mother, Sharon Osbourne, 73.
"I gave them a secondary phone when I landed. I was like, yeah, there's my phone," he said. He carried the burner phone in his pocket, claiming security searched his luggage but not his person. "I had work to do, I was doing a bunch of s**t. I was calling Aree, I was calling my mum, I was calling the kids," he added, stating he would have played innocent if caught.
A Camp Plagued by Contraband
Osbourne's confession comes as a major contraband scandal has rocked the jungle camp throughout this series. Numerous celebrities have been caught smuggling forbidden items, ranging from salt and butter to air fresheners.
Laughing about the exploits of others, including ex-EastEnders actress Shona McGarty, 34, and footballer Alex Scott, 41, Osbourne claimed, "I did not sneak anything in [to the camp]. I thought about it, and I had a good way to get stuff in, but I opted against it."
The scandal intensified this week when fan favourite to win, streamer AngryGinge (real name Morgan Burtwistle, 24), was exposed by fellow campmate Vogue Williams. Upon her exit on Monday night, Williams immediately "dobbed him in" to hosts Ant and Dec, revealing he had used a found packet of butter to flavour the camp's rice and beans.
Punishments and Amnesty Failures
The contraband discoveries have led to severe punishments. Alex Scott previously faced consequences for smuggling in a sachet of salt, resulting in the camp losing a star and having their dinner portions restricted.
Despite an amnesty box being introduced last week, contraband was found again over the weekend. A show source told the Daily Mail: "It's been a day of twists and turns with more contraband found and the consequences of this rule break has rocked the whole camp."
It was also revealed that Shona McGarty had hidden an air freshener, stolen from a trial, in her waistband and placed it in the camp toilet.
In her first interview since leaving, Alex Scott explained her "Saltgate" actions: "...there was all these sachets of salt and pepper, so I was like, 'Let me just pick up a few, and see if I can manage to get them in camp'. And I put them down my sock on the coming in day and managed to get it in." She said Jack Osbourne knew immediately as he was on cooking duty.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
