Reality television personality Taylor Frankie Paul, known for her role on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has publicly addressed the resurgence of a disturbing video from a 2023 domestic violence incident. The footage, which was obtained and published by TMZ on Thursday, shows Paul repeatedly attacking her former boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.
Video Evidence and Legal Consequences
This video later became crucial evidence in a 2023 criminal case, where Paul ultimately entered a guilty plea to a charge of aggravated assault. In response to the video's reappearance, Paul's representative issued a statement to the Daily Mail, strongly criticising Mortensen's motives.
The representative stated, 'It is profoundly sad to witness the latest installment of his never-ending, desperate, attention-seeking, and destructive campaign to harm Taylor. This campaign shows a complete disregard for the consequences their child may face.'
'Releasing an old video, which conveniently omits all necessary context, on their son's birthday is a reprehensible attempt to distract from his own documented behavior. Thankfully, the public has seen this act before and understands his true character. Sadly, many individuals will recognize this pattern of manipulation, both from his actions on the television show and from their own personal experiences.'
New Allegations and Protective Order
However, just two days prior to the video being made public, Dakota Mortensen filed for a protective order against Paul in a Utah court. According to the filing, this request is based on a new alleged incident that reportedly took place in February 2026.
The legal documents state the altercation occurred at Paul's residence, with their two-year-old son, Ever, present during the event. Mortensen claims that a verbal argument rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Paul allegedly choked him.
Details of the Alleged 2026 Incident
Mortensen asserts he was forced to physically remove Paul's hands from his neck. Following this, he alleges she then shoved him into a window and struck him. Describing the situation as both 'chaotic' and 'frightening,' Mortensen says the commotion, which included Paul screaming and yelling, woke their young son.
In his legal petition, Mortensen also referenced Paul's previous 2023 arrest for assault, where she was accused of throwing chairs at him. As part of his current filing, he has formally requested temporary custody of their son, Ever. Furthermore, he has asked the court to prohibit Paul from consuming alcohol or using drugs during any scheduled parenting time.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for both Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen seeking additional comment on these serious allegations and the resurfaced video evidence. The situation reignites an ongoing and contentious legal battle between the former couple.
