Meghan McCain Hits Back at Tucker Carlson Guest Over Pregnancy Fat-Shaming
Meghan McCain slams fat-shaming while nine months pregnant

Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late US Senator John McCain, has issued a powerful rebuke after being subjected to body-shaming remarks on a prominent podcast while heavily pregnant.

A Bizarre Episode Sparks Outrage

The incident occurred during the December 3 episode of Tucker Carlson's show, which featured far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos. In a segment bizarrely titled 'Why Are You Gay?', the conversation turned to Meghan McCain approximately an hour in. Yiannopoulos crudely labelled her 'the fat friend', repeatedly calling her 'fat' and 'crazy' as Carlson listened.

On Thursday night, the former co-host of The View responded directly to a clip of the exchange on the social media platform X. 'I am aware on the most recent episode of Tucker Carlson's show a subject of conversation with his guest was my weight - particularly how fat I am,' McCain began her post.

McCain's Fiery Response on Social Media

She pointedly addressed her condition, stating, 'Yes, I am very fat, I'm almost nine months pregnant with my third child.' McCain, who is expecting her baby this month with husband Ben Domenech, emphasised her happiness before criticising the behaviour displayed on the show.

'I don't care how many times Tucker talks about being a Christian, that is not Christian behaviour to engage in such a conversation on one of the largest podcasts in the world,' she wrote. She framed the incident as symptomatic of a wider issue, adding, 'This kind of meanness to women and hypocrisy is a classic example of why the right has such a problem with women voters of my generation.'

McCain, who already has two daughters, four-year-old Liberty Sage and two-year-old Clover Jade, concluded with defiance. She noted that such comments were 'old, lazy, tired' and stated, 'I don't make my living off of ugliness like that and truly can't fathom what life is like for anyone who does. It must be very dark.'

History of Body-Shaming and Public Support

This is not the first time McCain has confronted public scrutiny over her body. In May 2024, on her podcast Citizen McCain, she discussed the pressure to use weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, revealing she was frequently messaged about it. She firmly stated she was healthy and refused to take a 'test drug' to fit others' standards.

Similarly, in a 2023 column for the Daily Mail written just weeks after giving birth to her second child, she expressed astonishment at how many people urged her to take Ozempic, again refusing outright.

Following her latest post, support poured in. Fox & Friends host Janice Dean wrote, 'Love you. You are beautiful.' Other users condemned the remarks as 'mediocre, unfunny humor' and 'just mean', with one adding, 'It's a problem for society in general.'
