Mastodon's Brann Dailor Reveals Shocking BMW Theft After Atlanta Grammy Party
Mastodon Star's Custom BMW Stolen After Grammy Party

In a shocking turn of events following a night of Grammy celebrations, Brann Dailor, the renowned drummer from the heavy metal band Mastodon, had his highly customised BMW stolen in a bold overnight theft in Atlanta.

The vehicle, a distinctive blue BMW X5 M, was taken from outside a friend's residence in the city's Cabbagetown neighbourhood. The theft occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, mere hours after the band had attended a Grammy party.

A Treasure Trove of Irreplaceable Items Lost

Speaking to The Independent, a devastated Dailor revealed that the car contained an "overwhelming" amount of priceless personal and professional items. The most significant loss was a one-of-a-kind custom guitar, a gift from the Gibson brand, which he described as his "prized possession."

The stolen haul also included:

  • Vintage concert t-shirts from his personal collection
  • Unique band merchandise now out of production
  • Essential touring gear and equipment
  • Personal items and luggage

A Celebratory Night Turns Sour

The theft casts a dark shadow over what should have been a triumphant time for the Atlanta-based band. Mastodon's latest album, 'Hushed and Grim,' was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, ultimately losing out to Metallica.

Dailor had driven the BMW to a friend's house for a post-ceremony gathering. He believes the thieves specifically targeted the custom vehicle, which features personalised licence plates and extensive modifications.

"It's a real violation," Dailor stated. "You feel like you've been ransacked... It's just a real gross feeling."

An Appeal to the Public and Fans

The Atlanta Police Department is currently investigating the incident. Dailor and his bandmates have taken to social media to appeal for information, hoping the distinctive nature of the vehicle and its contents will aid in its recovery.

They are urging the public, particularly fans in the Atlanta area and beyond, to be on the lookout for the custom blue BMW and the unique items inside. The band has asked anyone with information to contact the Atlanta PD immediately.
