Katie Price's family 'very worried' as star posts chilling lung X-ray amid vaping addiction
Katie Price's family 'very worried' over her vaping addiction

Katie Price has ignited serious fears for her wellbeing after publicly confessing to a vaping addiction on social media, a habit her family is now "very worried" about.

Chilling Social Media Post Sparks Alarm

The former glamour model, 47, shared a disturbing X-ray image of a diseased lung to her Instagram stories. The graphic post carried a stark warning: "Vaping has officially been linked to rare and irreversible lung disease." Katie appended her own desperate message to the image, writing, "I have to stop."

This public admission has caused significant concern among her inner circle, particularly given the history of lung disease in her family. Katie's mother, Amy Price, 73, has been fighting terminal Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) for years. The condition scars the lungs and severely impacts breathing. Amy underwent a lung transplant in 2022.

A Family's Growing Concern and Past Incidents

Despite her apparent desire to quit, Katie has struggled to give up the habit. She was spotted vaping on a train last year and was even seen using a device during her recent live tour with friend Kerry Katona.

"Katie needs to stop for health reasons and, obviously, her family members have been very worried," a source revealed. "But she’s so stressed and it [vaping] is simply her way of releasing that stress. It’s also very addictive and as we know, Katie’s got a very addictive personality."

Her boyfriend of nearly two years, former Married At First Sight star JJ Slater, is said to be especially concerned but feels powerless to intervene. "JJ is concerned about her, but there’s only so much he can do," the source added.

This is not the first time her vaping has caused friction. In October 2023, her sister Sophie pleaded with her to stop during an episode of their shared podcast, The Katie Price Show. In November 2024, she faced backlash for vaping on a train, where it is banned. More recently, in March of this year, she was criticised for vaping in front of her infant niece, Olive.

Previous Quit Attempts and Health Worries

If Katie does attempt to quit, it won't be her first try. She previously vowed to stop a couple of years ago, even suggesting that vaping may have caused one of her teeth to fall out. "I swear it is the vape," she said on her podcast at the time.

Witnessing her mother's decline has clearly impacted Katie. She has spoken about how Amy has lost her independence, often needing a wheelchair and oxygen. "Whenever she’s feeling stressed, she reaches for the vape," the source explained. "She’s worried because of what happened to her mum."

In September, another insider described vaping as her "vice", driven by her addictive nature, with her family fearing things "could get serious" without help.

The star has faced other health issues this year, including a hospital visit after accidentally stabbing herself and seeking medical advice for unexplained weight loss.

Despite the challenges, those close to her remain hopeful she can overcome the habit. Public Health England has stated vaping is 95% safer than smoking, though the NHS maintains it is not completely harmless.
