Orthopedic Vamp Pumps: The Spring Shoe Revolution
Orthopedic Vamp Pumps: The Spring Shoe Revolution

If you have flat feet prone to blisters, rejoice: ballet flats are out, and orthopedic-inspired pumps are in. These shoes combine a short block heel with a higher vamp that covers about a third of the foot, offering both style and comfort. The square toe adds a modern touch, making them a versatile choice for spring.

Pumps have been spotted on runways at Celine and Gucci for spring/summer 2026, and Vogue has declared them a seasonal staple. Street-style stars at London Fashion Week paired them with midi skirts, slip dresses, and denim shorts. Celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber have also been seen wearing the style.

Laura Widdows, a footwear buyer at Daniel Footwear, notes that the rise of pumps reflects a shift towards more practical yet feminine shoes. “The addition of micro block heels offers ergonomic support, and a higher vamp covers more of the foot, providing a more streamlined use of materials to elongate the leg,” she explains.

While high-end options like Khaite’s Cecilia pumps and Maison Margiela’s Tabi pumps lead the trend, affordable versions are widely available. Reformation’s Inez pumps, Vagabond’s Livia pumps, and even M&S cream leather block heel pumps offer accessible alternatives. Alexa Chung has long championed the style, which represents a move away from both high heels and chunky platforms.
