Emmerdale's Kerry warns Dr Todd won't get away with torment

Emmerdale star Laura Norton has revealed that her character Kerry Wyatt will not let Dr Todd get away with tormenting Jacob Gallagher. Kerry, who has evolved from a neglectful mother to a beloved village figure, is set to take a stand against the manipulative doctor.

Kerry's Protective Instincts

Laura Norton explained that Kerry's fierce protection of Jacob stems from her own losses. Kerry lost her daughter Amy in the same incident that killed Jacob's mother Leyla. This shared trauma has created a strong bond between them. 'She carries a bit of misplaced guilt over trying to help Leyla and failing,' Laura said. 'She lost her child, so she's trying to fix that by being good to Jacob. She loves him to bits.'

Kerry is fully aware of Dr Todd's cruel behavior and is determined to stop it. 'The second she sees someone being unkind, she's like, 'I know your game, and I'm not letting it happen. You won't get away with bullying him.' She can't keep her mouth shut. She jumps straight in,' Laura added.

Dealing with Archie's AI Schemes

Meanwhile, Kerry is also facing challenges at home with her step-son Archie Breckle, who is involved in AI schemes. Laura described Kerry's confusion and concern: 'She's very confused. They have a big to-do about it. She pulls him on it and tries to get him to explain because she's really freaked out. She thinks it's weird and creepy, so she slams her foot down to get the truth.'

The storyline serves as a cautionary tale about technology. Laura noted the relevance: 'It's scary. There are things on the internet where I can't tell if they're real. My dad was talking about scams where someone texts 'hi dad' pretending to be a child. For my parents watching, it's a little thing to be aware of.'

Kerry's Evolution

Reflecting on Kerry's journey over 15 years, Laura said: 'She's done a lot of growing up. She was a car crash when she came in, but she's learned to show love. Her relationships with Eric Pollard and Amelia Spencer have softened her. She's got a heart, she's fierce, and she's very caring.'

Kerry's bond with Eric is especially important. 'She owes him a lot. He and Val took in Amy when she was gone. Since Amy passed, she feels it's her duty to look after him. She loves him like a dad,' Laura explained.

With Dr Todd causing chaos and Archie's tech troubles, Kerry is set for dramatic weeks ahead in Emmerdale.
