The official trailer for Christopher Nolan's next blockbuster, The Odyssey, has arrived, thrilling fans with its epic scale and star-studded cast. The film, Nolan's first since the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, is set for release on Friday, July 17.
Plot and Cast
The movie is a big-screen adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic poem, following hero Odysseus on his perilous journey home from the Trojan War to reunite with his wife and son. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, King of Ithaca, with Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope and Tom Holland as their son Prince Telemachus. Robert Pattinson plays the villainous Antinous, who covets the queen in the king's absence.
Other A-listers include Zendaya as the goddess Athena, Charlize Theron as the nymph Calypso, and Jon Bernthal as King Menelaus of Sparta.
Fan Reactions
Fans have taken to YouTube to share their excitement, calling the trailer 'awesome' and 'mind-blowing.' However, some have criticized the dialogue for sounding too modern, with comments like 'sounds like AI was given a prompt to sound dramatic.' One viewer noted: 'Words like 'dad,' 'party,' and 'let's go' feel out of place.' Despite this, anticipation remains high for Nolan's epic.
The Odyssey premieres in cinemas on Friday, July 17.
