The first trailer for Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film The Odyssey has been released, showcasing its star-studded cast ahead of its July release. The movie adapts Homer's ancient Greek epic, following King Odysseus on a perilous journey home after the Trojan War to reunite with his wife Penelope.
Cast and Characters
Matt Damon stars as the titular hero Odysseus, facing trials and tribulations on his quest. Anne Hathaway plays his devoted queen Penelope, who fends off suitors in his absence. Tom Holland portrays their son Telemachus, while Robert Pattinson plays Antinous, a suitor pursuing Penelope. Zendaya appears as Athena, goddess of wisdom, who protects Odysseus. The ensemble also includes Lupita Nyong'o, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee, and Mia Goth.
Trailer Highlights
The trailer opens with Odysseus washed ashore, pleading, 'Help me go home.' Penelope declares, 'Ithaca's king is coming back,' but Antinous refuses to believe. Telemachus insists, 'My dad is coming home,' as the house falls into chaos during Odysseus' 20-year absence. The rivalry between Telemachus and Antinous grows, with Antinous hinting he could win Penelope. A steamy scene shows Penelope sharing a kiss, then tearfully saying her 'world is gone.' Odysseus battles war and high seas, and the trailer hints at a duel with a mythological beast.
