Stephen Libby, who won this year’s Traitors alongside Northern Irish contestant Rachel Duffy, has revealed the big name he would love to see on a celebrity version of the show. The Scottish former cybersecurity consultant, originally from the Isle of Lewis and now living in London, spoke exclusively to the Mirror at the Make-A-Wish charity ball held at London’s Savoy Hotel.
Celtic Charm for Celebrity Traitors
Rumours about potential participants for the next star-studded series include actor Michael Sheen, Richard E Grant, singer Cheryl, and presenter Alison Hammond. However, Stephen has his hopes pinned on one person in particular. He said, “I’m convinced that the Celts have an advantage on that show. We have that Celtic charm, you know? So I’m gonna say it – Lorraine Kelly. Get her in there. I haven’t met her yet, but I think she’d smash it!”
The 32-year-old, known for his flamboyant outfits and love of jumpsuits, looked dapper in a brown suit with flared trousers at the event. When asked if he would consider doing a fashion segment on Lorraine’s morning chat show, he laughed, “Oh my god, I’d love to! Though I’m just recycling the 70s, basically…”
Career Boost After Traitors Win
Stephen has already secured a fashion presenting slot on This Morning following his Traitors success. He said, “Honestly? The team at This Morning has genuinely been so wonderful to me. I can't quite believe the opportunities that have been presented to me. As a normal civilian I thought the TV industry from the outside was quite… savage. Maybe I’ve had a good run so far! But everyone’s been gorgeous.”
He added, “I’ve spent most of my time with Cat and Ben but Rylan is hilarious. I was at the Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere last week and was at the afterparty – looking absolutely stunning, of course. He was there, walked straight up to me and said, ‘Stephen – could have made an effort…’ and walked off! I thought yes, that’s the kind of humour I’m here for. He’s very funny and genuinely, a lovely person.”
Rylan for Strictly Host?
The big announcement on who will step into Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly’s shoes as the new Strictly co-hosts is thought to be imminent. Stephen backed Rylan, one of the hot favourites, for the role. “Oh, Rylan would be phenomenal,” he said. “And I think he could hold the show on his own. There are certain presenters you watch from home and don’t worry about them, if that makes sense? You know you’re in very safe hands. Rylan’s one of them – and that’s exactly what you want as a viewer. He can roll with the punches whatever happens, too, which is important. So yes, absolutely – get him on Strictly!”
Double Traitor Win
Stephen and Rachel Duffy made history at the start of this year, becoming the BBC series’ first ever “double traitor win” and claiming just under £48,000 each. Rachel, who also spoke to the Mirror at the charity ball, admitted that her youngest daughter “adores” Stephen and is looking forward to an imminent trip with him to London Zoo.
