The final judgment from Los Angeles Superior Court, obtained by Fox News Digital, reveals the former couple owe $1.2 million to the IRS in federal taxes and more than $500,000 to the California Franchise Tax Board. The documents specify that each former spouse will be responsible for at least $600,000 of the federal debt, while the state tax bill will be divided equally between them.
This substantial tax burden forms just part of the financial challenges facing the newly divorced pair. Court filings expose additional debts accumulated over years, including $37,000 owed to American Express and a longstanding balance with City National Bank stemming from a six-figure loan taken over a decade ago that has ballooned to nearly $400,000.
Individual Debts and Income Disclosures
The financial disclosures paint a detailed picture of each party's separate obligations. Tori Spelling owes $288,000 to a private individual, $69,000 to another unnamed person, and $10,228 in uninsured medical costs. Meanwhile, Dean McDermott carries $22,000 in student loan debt and a further $20,609 in uninsured medical bills.
These financial revelations accompany earlier income declarations that highlight the couple's fluctuating earnings. In documents filed on September 5 and obtained by Page Six, Dean claimed Tori's monthly income varies dramatically between $3,000 and $75,000 "depending on the job". He stated his own income sits at $3,800 monthly, noting his earnings decreased significantly over the past year "due to the SAG/AFTRA strikes and change in the industry".
Divorce Settlement and Moving Forward
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott announced their separation in June 2023 after nearly two decades together, with the actress formally filing for divorce nine months later. Their split was finalised earlier this month, with court documents outlining agreements on support, asset division, and custody arrangements for their five children - Liam, 18, Stella, 17, Hattie, 14, Finn, 13, and Beau, 8.
