Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly enjoyed some glamorous family support backstage during the tense quarter-final results show, courtesy of her lookalike daughter, Phoebe Kay.
A Sparkling Family Affair at the Studio
The TV presenter, 56, who shares Phoebe and younger daughter Amber with husband Vernon Kay, was preparing to host the live episode alongside Claudia Winkleman. Tess looked sensational in a pale pink Rebecca Vallance dress, valued at around £800, which featured elegant bow sleeves. She completed her statuesque look with a pair of towering silver stiletto heels.
Phoebe Kay, who is 21 years old, was on hand to support her mother, accompanying her backstage before taking a coveted front-row seat in the studio audience. The film production student, who splits her time between London and Dubai, made a glittering statement of her own in a silver minidress with a high neck and padded sleeves. Her glitzy ensemble was finished with a pair of closed-toe metallic heels.
Forging Her Own Path Behind the Camera
While many children of celebrities step into the limelight, Phoebe is carving out a different career. She appears comfortable with her growing public profile, balancing university studies with red carpet appearances and luxurious holidays. However, she has expressed a clear preference for working behind the scenes.
"I like the production and editing side," Phoebe has explained. "I'd love to act, but will leave presenting to my mum and dad." She is currently using her time at university to explore her future, stating a willingness to gain hands-on experience, even starting as a runner and working her way up in the industry.
Her parents, Tess and Vernon, have been deliberate in shielding their daughters from the celebrity world until they were old enough to decide if they wanted a public life. Vernon has voiced his confidence in Phoebe's maturity, saying, "I've got confidence she will know how to deal with it." He has also been firm that his children should not live off their parents' fame but build their own careers.
A Gradual Entrance into the Public Eye
Unlike some so-called 'nepo babies', Phoebe made her red carpet debut relatively late, attending the premiere of *John Wick: Chapter 4* in London's Leicester Square in 2023 at age 18. She has since begun to cultivate a presence as an influencer, documenting her lifestyle to a growing online following.
The family celebrated her 21st birthday in style last month, with Vernon sharing a proud social media tribute. He also marked the end of her A-levels in June 2023 with an extravagant father-daughter trip to Ibiza. Their luxurious getaway included stays at the Casa Maca hotel and partying at the famed Ushuaïa beach club with DJ Calvin Harris.
As Phoebe continues her studies and explores the world of film production, she does so with the support of her famous family, but very much on her own terms.
