Susan Boyle 'Humbled' as Timothée Chalamet Calls Her 'One of Greatest Living Brits'
Susan Boyle reacts to Timothée Chalamet's praise

Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle has issued a heartfelt response after A-list Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet named her one of his favourite Britons in a surprising new interview.

A Star-Struck Tribute from Hollywood

The 29-year-old actor, currently dating Kylie Jenner, was promoting his new film Marty Supreme in the UK when he was asked which British celebrities he thought deserved a jacket from the movie. After listing stars like Lewis Hamilton and David and Victoria Beckham, Chalamet saved his final, most effusive praise for Boyle.

'She dreamt big. She dreamt bigger than all of us,' the actor said, referencing her iconic 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition. 'Who wasn't moved by that [story]? I remember that like it was yesterday. That was like the advent of YouTube, you know?'

Boyle's 'Humbled' and 'Flattered' Response

Now, Boyle, 64, has replied directly to the actor via a gushing Instagram post shared on Wednesday. Alongside a screenshot of his interview and a photo of Chalamet, she wrote a lengthy, emotional message.

'This has been so incredibly touching to read. I’m very flattered, @tchalamet,' the singer from Blackburn, West Lothian, began. She reflected on her early days, stating, 'Those early days were quite something, and to know that moment meant something to you all these years on truly humbles me.'

Boyle emphasised the power of dreams, adding, 'We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don’t we? We should all dream big!' She concluded by wishing Chalamet success and thanking him for his 'kindness'.

Preparing for a Musical Comeback After Health Struggles

The viral exchange comes as Boyle prepares for a major return to music after six years away from the spotlight. Her hiatus was partly due to significant health challenges.

In 2022, Boyle suffered a stroke which affected her ability to speak and sing. Having one stroke left her vulnerable to another, meaning her management team has had to carefully manage her gradual return to public life. The singer also lives with diabetes and was considered high-risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite these hurdles, Boyle signalled a comeback in May, sharing a photo from a 'wonderful' and 'emotional' day in the recording studio where she is working on new material.

It has been 16 years since Boyle was catapulted to global fame on Britain's Got Talent. Her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, became the world's best-selling album of 2009. She made UK chart history by having her first three albums debut at number one in under two years, and has sold an impressive 25 million records worldwide to date.
