Hearts took a giant step towards a first Scottish Premiership title in 66 years with a stirring 2-1 comeback victory over Rangers at Tynecastle. The win leaves Hearts seven points clear of Rangers and three ahead of Celtic, with three games remaining.
Rangers dominated the first half and took the lead through a deflected Dujon Sterling shot after a James Tavernier throw-in. However, Hearts manager Derek McInnes made tactical changes at half-time, introducing Blair Spittal and urging his players to 'man up'.
The hosts levelled when Stephen Kingsley fired home after Alexandros Kyziridis hit the post. Lawrence Shankland then scored the winner, latching onto a deflected cross and firing low past Jack Butland. Rangers pushed for an equaliser but Thelo Aasgaard hit the bar as Hearts held on.
McInnes praised his side's second-half display, saying: 'If we play in that manner, we are difficult to stop.' Rangers manager Danny Röhl admitted his side face a 'very difficult situation' after the defeat, which leaves their title hopes in tatters.
