Singer and reality TV star Ray J has been admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas, reportedly suffering from a severe case of pneumonia and heart pains. The 44-year-old artist, famously linked to Kim Kardashian in the early 2000s, is said to be awaiting test results including X-rays and an echocardiogram.
A History of Health Struggles
This alarming health episode is not the first of its kind for the 'One Wish' singer. Four years ago, in 2021, Ray J was hospitalised with a non-Covid pneumonia infection so serious he feared for his life. He spent over a week in hospital, initially placed in a Covid ward, and required oxygen and an inhaler for some time after his release.
Reflecting on that ordeal at the time, Ray J told TMZ, "I thought it was over. I started praying and knew God is good so I just kept praying." He suspected his "busy schedule and constant travel" had made him vulnerable to illness.
Public Concern and Birthday Plans
Despite the reports of his hospitalisation, Ray J's official Instagram account made no mention of his health. Instead, it promoted his upcoming official birthday celebration, scheduled for January 18 in Austin, Texas. The event, dubbed '#STRIPPERBOWL SEASON', is advertised to run from 5pm until 10pm.
Fans quickly expressed their concern in the comments section of the post. One follower urged, "Ray….rest. Go to your momma house and chill," while another commented, "and he still posting his bday party what a legend! get better dog!" A third pleaded for him to prioritise his health.
A Turbulent Period
The singer's latest health crisis follows a period of personal and legal difficulty. In November, Ray J was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on his ex-wife, Princess Love, during a livestream. He was booked on a charge of making a criminal threat with bail set at $50,000.
Just weeks before his hospital admission, Ray J was documenting a hitchhiking journey from Florida to Los Angeles, which he claimed was for a reality show. In an Instagram video, he asked fans for food and shelter along the way.
