Kyle Sandilands Left 'Blindsided' by Jackie O's Departure as Leaked Texts Expose Feud

New reports have revealed that Kyle Sandilands was completely 'blindsided' by the sudden departure of his long-time co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson from their iconic radio programme, The Kyle and Jackie O Show. Leaked text messages between the feuding broadcasters, obtained by news.com.au, expose a tense exchange where Sandilands attempted to apologise but was firmly shut down by Henderson.

Apology Attempt Falls on Deaf Ears

The leaked correspondence shows that the 54-year-old Sandilands texted Henderson, stating, 'Sorry for anything I said that didn't go down well.' He reportedly added that he 'loved' and 'cared' for her, seeking to mend fences after his on-air criticism. However, Henderson, 51, responded decisively, informing Sandilands that he had 'crossed a line' and that his comments—where he slammed her as unfocused during a live broadcast—were 'wrong and low.'

She then revealed she was taking a break from the show, emphasising she 'wanted him to hear it from her, not management.' Over the following week, Sandilands did not hear from Henderson but fully expected her to return, according to sources. His expectation was shattered when her resignation from the top-rated breakfast show was announced on Tuesday, leaving him 'feeling betrayed' and caught off guard.

Unexpected Announcement and Immediate Fallout

Hours before the official announcement, Sandilands had insisted on air that Henderson would return 'at some stage,' highlighting his lack of anticipation. He told newsreader Brooklyn Ross that he had signed off on a statement from Henderson's camp teasing 'good news,' noting, 'The only thing I noticed is that Jackie will be returning in the future. So, that's a good sign.'

By that evening, the show had collapsed entirely. KIIS FM's parent company, ARN, announced that Henderson's lucrative $100 million contract had been terminated after she informed executives she 'cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands' following his harsh on-air remarks that left her in tears. In response, ARN suspended Sandilands and gave him 14 days to 'remedy' the breach or face termination, citing his behaviour during the February 20 broadcast as 'an act of serious misconduct.'

Immediate Consequences and Future Uncertainties

The KIIS breakfast show has been taken off-air immediately, with interim arrangements put in place. ARN has offered Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the network, but her next career move remains unclear. Both Henderson and Sandilands have been approached for comment by Daily Mail, with no immediate responses. This dramatic turn of events marks a significant upheaval in Australian radio, underscoring the deep personal and professional rift between the once-dynamic duo.
