Country music sensation Kelsea Ballerini has announced the devastating loss of her cherished dog, Dibs, who passed away this week after a lengthy fight with cancer.
A Heartfelt Farewell on Instagram
The 32-year-old singer, recently reconciled with boyfriend Chase Stokes, shared the sad update with her followers on Thursday via her main Instagram page. Her emotional post featured a collection of photos and videos celebrating Dibs's life.
"My sweet dibs went to doggy heaven yesterday," Ballerini wrote in the caption. She provided comfort by detailing his final moments, stating, "He spent his last few days in his backyard looking at the sunshine and surrounded and visited by his forever people."
A Decade of Love and Loyalty
Ballerini adopted Dibs back in 2015, and she reflected profoundly on the impact he had on her life over the past ten years. "There are no words to articulate his role in my life, but I couldn't have done the last ten years without him, and he will always be my soul dog," she expressed.
She added a hopeful note, writing, "I pray and believe we'll find each other in every life." The performer acknowledged that his significance surpassed social media, noting, "His love and reach can't be captured in an Instagram photo dump."
Dibs's Life in the Spotlight
The tribute offered fans a glimpse into their special bond. The visuals included:
- A puppy photo from shortly after his adoption.
- Dibs strolling on a beach and backstage at Ballerini's shows.
- A touching image of him wearing a bandana declaring "My mom is Entertainer of the Year."
- Recent clips of him playing in the yard with Ballerini, Stokes, and friends.
This news comes just over a year after Ballerini first revealed Dibs had been diagnosed with 'inoperable cancer in his heart.' A separate Instagram account dedicated to Dibs also confirmed his passing with a message that read, "I'm cancer free now, and my last days were so happy."
Outpouring of Support from Fans and Stars
The comment section quickly filled with condolences from fellow celebrities and devoted fans. Boyfriend Chase Stokes simply penned, "My sweet sweet boy." Fellow country artist Carly Pearce commented, "Oh kels," while Brandi Cyrus wrote, "There's no greater heart break but what an amazing life he had!!!"
Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart offered support to both, stating, "I'm so sorry to you and Chase." Fans echoed the sentiments, with one writing, "I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. Dogs truly are family. All the love to you!"
The loss occurs shortly after Ballerini and Stokes reconciled, following two separations. Both shared reflective New Year's posts hinting at personal growth and renewed commitment to their relationship. Ballerini emphasised her belief in love, stating on her Instagram Stories, "I believe in it, I believe in him, and I believe in breaking patterns."
