Zara Larsson, the Swedish pop sensation who has recently skyrocketed to international fame, has revealed that she continues to honor college show commitments made before her breakthrough. Despite headlining major festivals and preparing for tours in Australia and New Zealand, Larsson insists on fulfilling contracts signed earlier in her career.
Commitment to Contracts
In a TikTok video, Larsson, 28, shared that she performed at two US colleges in one day, part of a series of shows booked to fund her more expensive tours. 'Once I’ve signed that contract, I’m not pulling out. I don’t do that. I don’t cancel shows,' she stated firmly. The singer, who gained fame in Sweden at age 10 and first hit the UK top five in 2015, has seen viral singles like 'Stateside' and 'Midnight Sun' propel her to new heights.
From High School Cafeterias to College Venues
Larsson joked about her journey, saying, 'We started in the high school cafeterias, and now we’re upgraded to the colleges.' She admitted she didn't finish high school but added, 'Someone has to entertain the educated. And that’s my job, and I take that seriously.' The singer, who performed at Coachella, described the college tour as 'really fun.'
Realistic Ambitions
In a previous interview with The Independent, Larsson acknowledged the challenge of translating online buzz into ticket sales. 'You just have to be realistic,' she said, noting that while she dreams of headlining worldwide arena tours, she is building her audience step by step. 'You’ve just gotta keep shoving it down people’s throat until they’re like, OK I’ll have a listen, I’ll go and buy the ticket.'
Larsson’s dedication to her commitments underscores her work ethic as she balances newfound fame with prior obligations, proving that even pop stars must sometimes pay their dues.
