Catherine Harding, the ex-partner of actor Jude Law, has thanked Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi for his kindness after her 11-year-old daughter Ada had a distressing encounter with security at the Lollapalooza festival in São Paulo.
Harding, also known as Cat Cavelli, shared photos on Instagram of herself, Ada, and Capaldi at the festival, captioning one: “@lewiscapaldi thanks for your kindness.” The incident came after Harding said a security guard “berated” her and her daughter following an encounter with singer Chappell Roan.
In a video posted on Sunday, Harding explained that her daughter had smiled at Roan while having breakfast at the same hotel, but did not approach her or take out her phone. A security guard then approached them in an “aggressive tone” and scolded them. Harding said the experience “ruined” the birthday gift of tickets to see Roan, and they did not attend the show.
Harding’s husband, former Premier League footballer Jorginho, said the incident left Ada “extremely shaken and cried a lot,” and accused Roan of not appreciating her fans. Roan responded in a video, stating she did not ask the security guard to approach the mother and child, and that the guard was not part of her personal detail. She added: “I do not hate children – that is crazy.”
Harding later claimed the security guard was someone who “looks after artists” and was with Roan. She urged Roan to ensure her staff do not treat people in such a manner. Roan, known for hits like Pink Pony Club and Good Luck, Babe!, has previously spoken out about the need for boundaries between celebrities and fans.
