Reality television star Joey Essex has been left devastated following the death of his beloved uncle, affectionately known as 'Big Greg'. The 35-year-old shared the heartbreaking news with his followers on Instagram, posting a touching tribute to his father's brother.

A Heartfelt Social Media Tribute

In an emotional post on 22nd November 2025, the Only Way Is Essex personality described his late uncle as 'a family man that anyone would dream of'. Joey Essex accompanied his words with a collection of cherished photos and videos, painting a picture of a close family bond. He wrote directly to his uncle, saying: 'Big Greg, you was one of a kind. The best uncle to me and brother to my dad. We will all miss you so much. Rest in peace mate love you forever.'

The Life and Career of 'Big Greg'

Greg Essex, known to many as 'Big Greg', led a multifaceted life. He worked as a porter at the famous Billingsgate Market in London while also pursuing an acting career. His film credits include roles in Don Quixote (2000) and the more recent Seal and the City (2022).

Beyond his work on screen and at the market, Greg was also a businessman. He co-owned the Beluga Seafood and Grill restaurant in Billericay, Essex, alongside celebrity chef Dez Harkness. The establishment opened its doors in September 2014 but closed unexpectedly in April 2015 due to a leasing issue.
