Former Love Island contestant Joe Garratt has shared details of a frightening incident where he was robbed during a trip to Los Angeles, bravely chasing the assailants down the street.
The Hollywood Ordeal
The 29-year-old TV personality, who first found fame on the 2019 series of the ITV dating show and returned for the 2024 All Stars season, took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday to recount the event. He disclosed that he was 'mugged' in LA and immediately pursued the thieves, sprinting for three entire blocks while wearing cowboy boots.
This impulsive act of defiance has left him suffering from the painful condition known as shin splints. In his social media post, Joe wrote: 'Got robbed in LA and then proceeded to chase them for 3 blocks in cowboy boots.' He added a warning to his followers, saying 'Stay safe out there pls,' before humorously asking for 'quick remedies for shin splints'.
A Newfound Faith and Future
This alarming event comes just weeks after Garratt opened up about a significant personal transformation, revealing he had reconnected with his faith. Appearing on 'The Way UK' podcast, which aims to break assumptions around Christianity, Joe spoke candidly about his spiritual journey.
'You don't need perfection to come to God,' he stated. 'You need to come to God in search of his perfection.' He explained that his decision was partly influenced by a desire for his actions to align with his words, noting that drinking sometimes led him to behave in ways that conflicted with his Christian values.
Joe, who famously coupled up with Lucie Donlan during his initial 2019 Love Island stint, has also recently been the subject of romance rumours. At the National Television Awards, onlookers noted a spark between him and fellow islander Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, with reports suggesting he asked her on a date.
