Television presenter Jeff Brazier has broken his silence about the end of his seven-year marriage to wife Kate in a deeply emotional social media post that prompted an outpouring of support from his celebrity friends.
Emotional Instagram Announcement
The 46-year-old ITV star took to Instagram on Tuesday night to share the heartbreaking news that their marriage had broken down over the summer. Alongside a nostalgic throwback photo from a family holiday, Jeff explained that they had ultimately discovered they couldn't make each other happy despite their best efforts.
In his lengthy statement, Jeff expressed both love and gratitude for his soon-to-be ex-wife, writing: "I'm so full of love and gratitude for Kate. For all we achieved, for how much we grew, for everything we endured."
The presenter revealed they had separated during the summer but kept the situation private to allow themselves time to adjust to their new circumstances.
Celebrity Support Floods In
Jeff's emotional post immediately drew supportive responses from his ITV colleagues and fellow celebrities. Alison Hammond responded with a series of heart emojis, while Kate Lawler wrote: "Ah guys how lovely that you're still so close ❤️ xx."
Capital FM presenter Sian Welby, another ITV colleague, commented: "Nothing but respect for this post." Other famous friends including Denise Welch, Tamzin Outhwaite and Lisa Faulkner also reached out with kind words on social media.
The public show of support came after reports emerged earlier this week that the couple had decided to end their marriage, with PR guru Kate having moved out of their marital home three weeks earlier.
Turbulent Year and Family Challenges
Jeff's statement made reference to the particularly difficult year the family had faced, which included fractured relations with his 21-year-old son Freddy. The son of Jeff and late Big Brother star Jade Goody has recently patched things up with his father following a bitter family feud.
During this challenging period, Jeff had considered taking legal action to block access between Freddy and his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden in an effort to "keep him safe." Freddy had previously claimed Jackiey got him hooked on drugs and revealed he had tragically "tried to end it all" during a manic episode.
Despite the marriage breakdown, Jeff emphasised that Kate remains invested in his sons' lives, particularly as Freddy prepares to welcome his first child. "It's credit to the woman she is that she still checks in to ask how the boys are doing because she is so invested in their lives," Jeff wrote.
The couple had previously split in late 2022 before reconciling seven months later. At the time, Kate had admitted she "felt like a failure" in her marriage before realising that every couple faces struggles.
Jeff concluded his emotional statement by acknowledging their mutual desire for happiness: "We both deserve complete happiness and we're upset that we ultimately couldn't be that for one another and It felt time to let it go."
The signs of their separation had become increasingly visible, with Jeff being spotted without his wedding ring while reporting from Reykjavik on Monday's Good Morning Britain, while Kate too reportedly removed her band after heading to Las Vegas for the Grand Prix.
