In a hilarious on-air blunder, Aree Gearhart, the wife of I'm A Celebrity star Jack Osbourne, has accidentally let slip his most closely guarded jungle secret. The 40-year-old had been deliberately hiding his true phobias from the ITV show's producers, but his wife's candid comments during a spin-off show have now exposed everything.
The Secret Is Out
Throughout his time in the Australian jungle, Jack Osbourne had been strategically keeping his fears to himself. In a pre-recorded clip before entering the camp, he admitted his reluctance to reveal what truly terrifies him. However, this careful strategy was completely undone during Monday's episode of the ITV2 spin-off, I'm A Celebrity... Unpacked.
While speaking with hosts Joel Dommett and Kemi Rodgers, Aree Gearhart called in to discuss her husband's performance. She praised his success in the 'Drown The Hatch' trial, where he impressively won 12 stars and appeared completely unfazed by a snake. "I knew he was going to do really well. He's very handy, outdoorsy," Aree said. "I was shocked by the Drown The Hatch. The snakes, I know, are a big fear of his."
Producers Take Note
Aree's revelation immediately caught the hosts' attention. A surprised Kemi Rodgers responded, "Oh, that's interesting because he seems really calm. He was like, 'Oh, it was close to me' but we didn't see him panic that much, did he? Does he have any other fears?"
In response, Aree delved even deeper, explaining her husband's ability to appear stoic before delivering the crucial information. "Yeah, he can get into this really stoic place which I think we saw in [Drown The Hatch]," she continued. "He's absolutely terrified of spiders." This prompted host Joel Dommett to joke, "The producers are noting that down," a quip that likely contained more than a grain of truth.
This wife-led exposé stands in stark contrast to Jack's own appearance on Unpacked earlier in the week. When a viewer asked if there was anything he was scared of, Jack proudly detailed his deceptive plan. "Oh, there's plenty that I'm scared of," he confessed. "But coming in here, I refused to tell the show what I'm actually scared of. I've been lying to them the whole time."
A Tribute and A Healing Journey
Beyond the secret-spilling, Aree also opened up about the deeper significance of Jack's time on the show. She revealed that the experience is helping him navigate his grief following the death of his legendary father, Ozzy Osbourne.
Viewers have already seen Jack become emotional while discussing his father's passing with campmates, explaining that the loss "still feels fresh" and was "a shock" to the family. Aree believes the environment of the camp is providing a unexpected source of comfort. "It's kind of a funny time to be doing something like this, but it's helpful..." she shared. "I think he's going to want to come out of it with the connections and the fact that he did it."
Jack's initial strategy was actually sage advice from his mother, Sharon Osbourne. In the line-up reveal video, he admitted, "The advice my mum gave me was 'don’t tell them what you're really afraid of'. There is a chance you’ll hear me say I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here." For now, despite his wife's best unintentional efforts, Jack remains in the camp, facing his fears head-on.
