Gwen Stefani was all smiles during a chilly New York City outing on Thursday, seemingly brushing off months of intense speculation about the state of her marriage to country music star Blake Shelton.
Stefani Shuts Down Speculation with Festive Reveal
The 56-year-old singer and fashion icon, who braved the winter weather in a stylish green bomber jacket and oversized beige trousers, used an appearance on the Today show to detail the couple's upcoming holiday arrangements. She revealed they plan to spend December bouncing between their homes in Oklahoma and Los Angeles, a routine she described as a "blessing."
"We're doing all the regular stuff," Stefani shared. "Blake and I, we just bounce back and forth between Oklahoma constantly. This December, we're going back there, and then we're going to bounce back to [Los Angeles]." She added that they had recently celebrated two Thanksgiving dinners with family, expressing her love for Oklahoma, especially during this season.
The Source of the Split Rumours
The pair, who tied the knot in 2021 and built a home together in Oklahoma, have faced relentless divorce rumours in recent months. The speculation was fuelled by several key events:
- The March release of their duet Hangin’ On, which many fans interpreted as a breakup song. Shelton later told Access Hollywood the track was "really no reflection" of their relationship, but rather a song they simply loved.
- Their decision to pre-tape solo performances for the American Music Awards in May, which disappointed some viewers.
- Their notable absence from the CMA Awards earlier this month, where Shelton was nominated for Musical Event of the Year.
- A noticeable decrease in social media posts featuring each other on their individual accounts throughout the summer and autumn.
Public Displays to Counter the Narrative
Stefani has made several apparent efforts to quash the rumours publicly. Just days before her NYC outing, at the premiere of the Christmas comedy Oh. What. Fun, she flashed multiple rings given to her by Shelton on the red carpet.
In late November, she also posted a affectionate selfie on Instagram showing Shelton kissing her cheek. Furthermore, a representative for the star gave a firm denial to Page Six, calling the split stories "completely made-up" and created solely for headlines and clicks.
Despite the swirling gossip, Stefani's relaxed demeanour and detailed plans for a shared holiday season with her husband suggest the couple are focused on their life together, navigating the challenges of a high-profile marriage away from the rumour mill.
