A UK meat supplier has entered compulsory liquidation after a decade in business, owing outstanding debts. West Yorkshire Meat Suppliers Limited, which specialized in meat and poultry products, faced a winding-up petition presented by British Gas Trading Limited on March 30, 2026.
Company details and court proceedings
The company, based at Unit A, 82 James Carter Road, Mildenhall, will have the petition heard at Liverpool Civil and Family Court on Tuesday, May 5. The petitioner's solicitor is Sian Phillips of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP. A winding-up petition forces a company into compulsory liquidation due to unpaid debts.
Broader agricultural sector distress
The enforcement comes as the UK agricultural sector experiences significant financial pressure. In the meat industry, more than a third of UK farms could go out of business within five years due to changes to inheritance tax (IHT). Additionally, the Middle East conflict has raised concerns over energy costs affecting stock levels.
