Former YouTube sensation Jenna Marbles and her husband, streamer Julien Solomita, are heartbroken following the death of their beloved pet dog, Mr. Marbles. The couple shared the sad news with their millions of followers over the weekend.
A Final Farewell on Social Media
Julien Solomita, 33, announced the passing of the chihuahua in an emotional Instagram post on Friday. He shared a single photograph of Mr. Marbles alongside a heartfelt caption addressed to the dog. "mr. marbles. thank u for showing me what it truly means to ride or die," Solomita wrote to his 1.3 million followers. "i love you almost as much as you loved jenna. thanks for all the years of love and protection. rest easy, chip."
The comments on the post announcing the death were disabled. However, fans quickly flocked to an earlier Instagram post from Solomita featuring wedding pictures to share their condolences. The December 2022 upload included several black-and-white images from the couple's special day, with Mr. Marbles appearing in two of them.
A Constant Companion Through Fame
Mr. Marbles was a six-week-old puppy when Jenna Marbles, now 39, first brought him home. Fans of the online personality watched her relationship with the pet evolve throughout her dramatic rise to fame on YouTube. The chihuahua was a constant fixture in her videos and was famously by her side when she married Solomita in 2022.
In the comments under the wedding photos, one supporter wrote, "Rest in peace Mr Marbles, Im glad he got to be with you on your wedding." Another added, "Mr marbles is finally surrounded by all the loved dogs in heaven. thank you for taking care of jenna❤️." Many also took the opportunity to express how much they miss Marbles herself, who stepped away from the public eye in June 2020.
Preparing for the Inevitable
The couple had been preparing for this loss for some time. Weeks earlier, during a six-hour Twitch livestream, Solomita revealed that Mr. Marbles was receiving end-of-life care. "I didn't want to make a whole thing about it at the start of the stream, but I'm mentally not fully here lately," he explained, per a report by People magazine.
He went on to say, "Marbles is getting really old. We're dealing with end-of-life things happening. It's sort of been all-consuming." Becoming visibly emotional, Solomita acknowledged the shared experience of pet loss, stating, "I know a lot of you have dealt with losing pets... I sort of feel like I'm not even here. The whole thing is hard, and you [are] never really prepared for something like this."
Jenna Marbles, whose real name is Jenna Mourey, has not been active online since her tearful departure from YouTube nearly four years ago. She left the platform after facing criticism over some of her old content, stating her desire to ensure she did not hurt anyone with what she put into the world.
