A&E Visit Reveals Quadruplet Pregnancy for Texas Mum

A 25-year-old mother from Texas who went to A&E with severe stomach pains was shocked to discover she was expecting quadruplets. April Fields, already a mother to three children under five, feared a cyst but doctors found four heartbeats on the scan.

April said: 'I thought it was a cyst. The pain kept getting worse and I could barely walk.' During the scan, a nurse asked how she would feel if there was more than one baby. 'I was so shocked I could barely speak. I thought they were joking at first. But then I looked at the screen and could see all four heartbeats,' she added.

Doctors warned of a high-risk pregnancy and suggested reducing the number of babies to improve survival chances, but the couple refused. 'It meant terminating the weakest of the four. But there was no way we could do that. We wanted to give them all a chance,' April said.

In July 2025, April gave birth via caesarean to three boys—Artemis, Denahi, and Curtis—and a daughter, Eudora. All were healthy but required neonatal intensive care due to prematurity. 'When I finally got to see the quads, later that evening, my heart was bursting with love. They were just perfect,' she said.

The babies gradually came home, completing a family of nine. April said: 'With seven kids under six, I often struggle to grab five minutes to myself. But I wouldn’t change a thing.'
