Actor Corey Feldman and his estranged wife Courtney have finally resolved their contentious divorce proceedings, reaching what court documents describe as a 'global settlement' in their prolonged separation.
The Settlement Agreement
According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail and filed on November 20, the judge overseeing the case confirmed that the former couple had reached a comprehensive agreement regarding their financial arrangements. The settlement brings to a close what had become an increasingly public and difficult separation for both parties.
The 54-year-old actor, best known for his roles in The Goonies, The Lost Boys and Stand by Me, expressed his relief to Us Weekly, stating that 'the most painful part' of the split was now behind them.
'I pray for everyone involved that we can move on with our lives and heal,' the LA native told the magazine. He added: 'Please respect my wishes for privacy regarding this matter moving forward, as I have a very full slate of exciting things in the works for next year, and that's where my focus needs to be.'
Financial Disputes and Support Demands
The settlement comes after Courtney Feldman had recently requested increased financial support from the actor. Court documents revealed she had asked the court to raise her spousal support to $7,226 per month, significantly more than the $3,500 she was receiving at the time.
According to the filings submitted on November 11, Courtney highlighted the substantial income disparity between them. She noted that while she worked part-time as a barista and Goodwill worker, Feldman had recently secured a six-figure payday for his appearance on Dancing with the Stars.
The financial support had previously been increased from $2,000 to $3,500 per month in August 2023. In her recent petition, Courtney also sought $16,712 in retroactive payments and $15,000 to cover her legal fees.
Relationship History and Separation
Corey and Courtney, a Canadian model, originally tied the knot in 2016 during a ceremony at Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The couple announced their separation in September 2023, revealing they had actually parted ways on June 22, 2023.
At the time of their separation announcement, Feldman told Page Six: 'It is with great sadness that Courtney and I have made the decision to separate after many wonderful years together. We have been through so much together and still have much love and respect for each other.'
The actor emphasised that there was 'no one to blame' for their separation, citing Courtney's health issues and the couple having 'grown apart' as contributing factors. He had previously told NBC News that he was voluntarily paying spousal support and had been 'leaving the door open for reconciliation.'
Feldman's representative, Samantha Waranch, previously characterised Courtney's financial requests as 'unexpected and excessive', noting that the actor had 'continued to financially support Courtney for years' and 'maintained her health insurance since the day she left.'
The settlement now allows both parties to move forward with their lives, bringing closure to a chapter that Feldman described as causing him significant 'emotional and mental pain' in a recent social media post.
