Popular television presenter Alison Hammond made her much-anticipated return to This Morning on Friday, but her comeback was accompanied by a concerning health admission. The 50-year-old star had been absent from the ITV studios after travelling to Australia to appear on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'s spin-off programme, Unpacked.
A Husky Voice and Health Concerns
As co-host Dermot O'Leary, 52, welcomed her back to the famous sofa, he immediately quizzed her about her Australian adventure. While Alison expressed her enthusiasm for the experience, calling it "a lovely time" and revealing she was "absolutely obsessed with I'm A Celebrity," her voice told a different story.
The TV personality confessed to viewers, "Do you know what? I wasn't actually very well, I don't know if you can hear, it's still there?" Dermot was quick to note that she sounded noticeably "husky." Alison explained that she believed she had contracted an illness during her flight, mentioning, "I got something on the plane, I don't know, there was an eye infection!" Despite her ailments, the presenter was positive about being back on the show, insisting, "It's good to be back!"
Battling Jet Lag After the Long Haul
The health issues did not stop with the infection. During the programme, Alison made another confession related to her long-haul travel. She revealed she was struggling with her sleep patterns, stating, "Do you know what, I am struggling to get to sleep and then I want to sleep longer in the morning, is that jet lag? I'm still in Australian time!"
This was not the first time Alison had spoken about feeling unwell. While still in Australia, she had previously admitted on I'm A Celebrity's spin-off programme Unpacked that she was feeling "under the weather" and had even lost her voice.
Social Media Well-Wishes
Alison's health struggles were also documented on her social media. She had posted a series of snaps on Instagram from her time down under with the caption: "A wonderful week of jungle fun! Thanks for having me @imacelebrity. It was exactly what I needed sun sea and jungle fun" followed by a heart emoji.
In a separate post, she addressed her lost voice directly, writing: "Having the best time on @imacelebrity unpacked... Sorry I lost my voice." Her 1.8 million followers were quick to respond with supportive messages in the comments. One person wrote, "Get well soon Alison!" while another added, "Hope u feel better soon Alison xxx." A third follower curiously inquired, "Get well soon alison and are you doing this morning on Friday."
