Texas judge denies bail to teen who pepper-sprayed family on riverboat
Judge jails teen for pepper-spray attack on riverboat

A Texas judge has delivered a stern lesson to a teenage girl accused of unleashing pepper spray on a family aboard a San Antonio riverboat, denying her release from jail.

Judge's Stern Rebuke in Court

Kasidy Luz Trevino, 17, was refused bail by Judge William 'Cruz' Shaw III, who told the teenager she was "on the riverwalk acting a fool." The judge, visibly irritated, reminded Trevino that she was already serving a juvenile probation order under his supervision at the time of the alleged assault. The exact nature of her prior offence remains unclear.

Details of the Riverboat Incident

The incident occurred on November 15 around 8:30 pm on a boat travelling along the popular San Antonio River Walk. According to a police report viewed by the Daily Mail, the confrontation began when the boat operator asked Trevino to lower the volume of music playing from her phone.

After the operator stalled the vessel, Trevino allegedly began to verbally threaten passengers before using pepper spray. A widely circulated TikTok clip, viewed millions of times, captures her shouting profanities, including: "Stop recording me, b**ch, or I'll slap you in your s**t."

In a separate video, a witness states the assailant stood on a bridge and sprayed the group as the boat passed underneath, using a canister attached to her purse. Eight people were reportedly hit, including a young boy seen clutching his eyes in pain and a woman holding a toddler.

Aftermath and New Charges

Trevino fled the scene but was later identified by her own probation officer and a police officer who recognised her from the viral footage. Crime Stoppers also received multiple tips about her identity, leading to her arrest.

She now faces serious additional charges for assault causing bodily injury and injury to a child, elderly, or disabled person with intent. Having been denied release, she remains in custody awaiting her next court appearance, scheduled for January 8.
