Three people have sustained knife injuries following a stabbing incident at a school in Manchester. Emergency services rushed to Co-op Academy on Plant Hill Road in Blackley earlier this morning, June 9, after reports of a serious incident. The school was placed into lockdown, with students instructed to remain in their classrooms.

Police Statement

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson confirmed that three individuals were injured, describing their wounds as 'non-serious' at this stage and consistent with knife injuries. A schoolgirl was arrested at the scene. The spokesperson added that there is no believed wider threat to pupils or staff.

The full statement from GMP reads: 'Officers are currently responding to an incident at a school on Plant Hill Road, Blackley where a schoolgirl has been arrested. Three people have been injured, however injuries aren't believed to be serious at this time. Emergency services remain on scene and we are supporting the school. There is not believed to be any wider threat to the pupils and staff in the school.'

Emergency Response

A significant number of police and ambulance vehicles were seen outside the school this morning. An emergency helicopter was also observed overhead. The school remains under lockdown as investigations continue.
