Man Critical After Gang Attack Near Southbank Centre

A man in his 40s remains in a critical condition in hospital after being brutally assaulted by a gang of four men near the Southbank Centre in central London.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning on Belvedere Road, South Bank. The victim was knocked to the ground and kicked by the group before the assailants fled the scene.

Police were called at around 00:15 BST and found the man with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is now fighting for his life.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are conducting urgent inquiries. The Metropolitan Police has appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the attackers.

A police spokesman said: 'Around 00:15hrs on Sunday, June 14, officers attended Belvedere Road, South Bank, following reports of an assault. The victim, aged in his 40s, was assaulted by a group of around four men, who knocked him to the ground and assaulted him. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition. No arrests have been made at this stage, and officers are making urgent inquiries.'
