Lidl and Capri-Sun Recall Items Over Health Risks; Toys Also Affected

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued two recall notices this week, while the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has flagged a separate alert for toys. Consumers are urged to check their purchases and take immediate action.

Lidl Ice Cream Recall Due to Allergy Risk

Lidl has recalled its 1001 Delights Dubai Style Pistachio Ice Cream (300g pack, best-before December 8, 2027) because it contains cashews (nuts) not declared on the label. The recall applies only to Northern Ireland and Ireland.

The FSA stated: "This product contains cashew (nuts), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to cashews. Lidl are recalling the above product." Customers who have bought the product are advised: "Do not eat it. Instead, return it to where you bought it from for a full refund."

Lidl added: "If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to cashews, we advise you not to consume it. Instead, please return the product to a Lidl store for a full refund, with or without a receipt." Capri-Sun Orange Drink Mislabelling

Capri-Sun UK Limited has recalled specific batches of Capri-Sun Orange (10 x 200ml multipacks) because some pouches are incorrectly labelled as Capri-Sun Orange Zero. The pouches contain regular Capri-Sun Orange with normal sugar levels, posing a risk to consumers managing sugar intake. The affected batches have codes L104, L105, L106 and a best-before date of April 1, 2027. This recall is specific to Northern Ireland.

Customers who rely on sugar content information should not drink the product and return it to the retailer for a full refund, no receipt needed.

Unbranded Squeezy Dumpling Toys Recall

The OPSS has recalled unbranded Squeezy Dumplings — sensory toys shaped like bao buns — due to dangerously high levels of benzene, which can irritate eyes, nose, and throat. The recall involves batches from Samsons Cash and Carry Ltd. Trading Standards has confiscated unbranded or imitation versions for non-compliance with toy safety regulations.

Consumers are advised to buy from reputable retailers. Official Squishy Dumpling toys are stocked by major UK retailers like The Entertainer, Smyths Toys, B&M, and The Range, with prices starting at £4.99. Which? recommends checking for clear 'CE' or 'UKCA' logos, which indicate passed safety assessments.
