Susanna Reid Announces GMB Contract Extension Until 2031

Susanna Reid, the lead co-anchor of ITV's Good Morning Britain, has shared an exciting career update that left fans feeling overjoyed. The 55-year-old broadcaster, who has fronted the morning programme since 2014 alongside Ed Balls, announced a contract extension for the show until at least December 2031.

Posting a photo collage of the breakfast panel on Instagram, Reid wrote: "More GMB!" She added: "In a week of terrific growth in viewer numbers and share, it is fantastic news that ITN has a contract extension to produce GMB for ITV until at least December 2031. This is a massive show of confidence in our team Good Morning Britain, our journalism and our ratings. Thanks to the viewers - who are at the heart of everything we do."

ITV's Recent Changes and Sale

This announcement comes amid a period of change for ITV. Earlier this year, the network announced a schedule shake-up that saw Lorraine Kelly's daytime talk show cut short to 30 minutes and the removal of the live audience from Loose Women. Additionally, earlier this month, ITV agreed to sell its TV and streaming services to Sky for £1.6 billion. In a Sky Group statement, they said: "The UK media market is undergoing a profound and rapid transformation, and as competition for audiences intensifies, scale matters more than ever in order to compete with global streaming giants and YouTube in the UK. Viewers will continue to enjoy the shows they know and love, such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Love Island, I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, This Morning, Loose Women, Lorraine and News at Ten - alongside major live sporting events."

GMB's Continued Success

The award-winning ITV flagship breakfast show airs from 6am on weekdays. Reid has also made appearances on Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Woman, but remains best known as the lead co-anchor of Good Morning Britain. The contract extension signals strong confidence in the programme's future and its team.
