Two young brothers who tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash during the half-term break have been identified as Tobias, eight, and Finley Rice, five. The incident occurred on the A30 at Connor Downs in Cornwall on May 29.
Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway of the major road shortly before 11am. Tobias was pronounced dead at the scene, while Finley succumbed to his injuries in hospital three days later, on June 2, according to Cornwall Live.
The boys were pupils at the Priory CE Primary School in Christchurch, Dorset. The school community has been left in shock by their tragic loss, as reported by the BBC.
The headteacher, Simon Croutear, paid tribute to the brothers, describing them as "cherished members of our school family" who would be "immensely missed." He stated: "Our whole school community has been shocked and grieved by the tragic loss of Tobias and Finley. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family, who we are in touch with and are supporting in every way we can."
Mr. Croutear released the names with the family's consent. A woman in her 70s was treated at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for serious injuries sustained in the crash. Another woman, in her 40s, was also treated and has since been discharged. Both women and the two children were traveling in the same vehicle. Police confirmed that relatives are being supported by specially trained officers.
