New video shows Henry Nowak killer holding gun before murder

Newly released footage shows Vickrum Digwa holding what appears to be a firearm in his back garden, years before he was convicted of the murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak. The video, dated October 18, 2022, depicts the then-19-year-old wielding the weapon while another unidentified individual fires bullets at a wooden target.

Neighbour's account

Digwa's neighbour reported being startled by 'loud gunshots' coming from the property next door in Southampton. Upon investigating, the neighbour filmed Digwa and another man holding guns in the garden. The neighbour stated: 'We could hear gunshots, we went to look and saw them shooting guns at a wooden board. We filed a report to the police, but they told us they couldn't do anything as there had been no reports from other residents. We would hear a lot of shouting and arguing sometimes, but overall, they were quiet neighbours.'

Conviction and sentencing

Digwa, now 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Henry Nowak on December 3, 2025, in Southampton. The court heard that Digwa stabbed Nowak five times with a 'large dagger', claiming he carried it for religious reasons. When police arrived, Digwa falsely accused Henry of racial abuse and knocking off his turban, leading officers to arrest and handcuff the dying student at the scene.

During sentencing, prosecutor Nicholas Lobbenberg KC described Digwa as having a 'weapon obsession', stating he was 'skilled with weapons, trained with weapons, sleeps with weapons, searches for weapons on his phone.'

Weapons charges

Hampshire Police found an air pistol at Digwa's family home during a search after the murder. Digwa, along with his brother Gurpreet and father Moga Singh, appeared in court last week on multiple weapons offences. The charges include possession of a flick knife, extendable baton, knuckledusters, machete, swords, and kusaris, but do not involve a gun.

Gurpreet Digwa, 27, faces additional charges for possessing an offensive weapon (an asp) in public, a prohibited weapon (air rifle), an axe in public, and a knife in public. The proceedings were adjourned until July 9 for a further hearing.
