Tragic Stabbing of 16-Year-Old Girl in Leeds Suburb
The family of Chloe Watson Dransfield, a 16-year-old girl allegedly stabbed to death in a dispute over a boy, have paid an emotional tribute to their beloved daughter, describing her as their 'world'. Chloe, from Gomersal in West Yorkshire, tragically died on Saturday morning after sustaining severe stab wounds in the quiet Austhorpe suburb of Leeds.
Family's Heartbreaking Tribute to 'Princess' Chloe
In a moving statement, Chloe's heartbroken family remembered her as a 'loyal, honest, family-oriented princess' whose absence leaves an immeasurable void. They expressed utter devastation, with her mother saying, 'I cannot put into words how I feel that you are not here with me. You are my life, my world, my best friend.' The family highlighted her bubbly personality, confidence, and the joy she brought to every room, noting that she had her whole future ahead of her.
Police Investigation and Arrests
West Yorkshire Police were called at 5.55am on Saturday, 28 March, to Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe, a street known for its bungalows and elderly residents. Despite neighbours performing CPR in a desperate attempt to save her, Chloe was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to hospital by paramedics. The police have launched a murder investigation, arresting a fifth person on Monday—a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody alongside two 18-year-old women, a 19-year-old man, and another 17-year-old boy, all from Leeds.
Neighbour's Account and Scene Details
Neighbour Wayne Mallows, 64, described the harrowing scene, revealing that he took over CPR from another resident after a dog walker alerted him. He reported that Chloe had been stabbed in the back and was lying lifeless on the pavement, with significant blood loss. Mr Mallows struggled to erase the image of her young face from his mind, noting she appeared younger than 16 and was dressed in a blouse, beige coat, dress, and thick socks. The area, typically quiet with retired residents, was sealed off by forensic officers as part of the investigation.
Online Tributes and Fundraiser
Extensive tributes flooded social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, with messages calling Chloe a 'beautiful girl' and remembering her 'weird laugh' and 'cringy jokes'. A relative set up a GoFundMe page to help give Chloe the best possible send-off, stating her life was 'taken in a flash over a boy' and that she was an 'innocent beautiful soul taken too soon'. Floral tributes and cards were left outside her mother's home in Cleckheaton, with one message reading, 'Rest easy my Chloe. Love you forever my crazy girl.'
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of West Yorkshire Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and complex. He appealed for witnesses or anyone with mobile phone footage to come forward, providing support to Chloe's family through specially-trained officers. The police are working diligently to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, as the community mourns the loss of a vibrant young life.
