Hollywood star Rebel Wilson has been accused of orchestrating a cyber-attack on the social media account of fellow actor Charlotte MacInnes, leading to the leak of a nude photo. The allegation emerged in an affidavit filed by MacInnes in the Federal Court as part of a defamation lawsuit against Wilson.
MacInnes, the lead actor in Wilson's directorial debut The Deb, claims she was defamed by Wilson in four social media posts that falsely accused her of making a sexual harassment complaint and then retracting it to advance her career. The young actor said the posts left her crying every day for weeks and feeling 'powerless' against Wilson's 11 million followers.
In her sworn statement, MacInnes alleged that her Snapchat account was breached and an attempt was made to hack her Facebook account days after she filed legal proceedings against Wilson in September 2025. 'I believe that this was orchestrated by Rebel,' she wrote. 'It was completely terrifying and caused me a new kind of anxiety.' No evidence has been tendered to support the hacking claim, and Wilson has not yet been questioned about it.
The lawsuit centres on an incident in September 2023 when MacInnes helped co-producer Amanda Ghost after a medical episode at Bondi Beach. The pair shared a bath in their swimwear to warm up. Wilson claimed MacInnes had confided that she felt uncomfortable, but MacInnes denies making any complaint. Ghost told the court she was initially concerned but later believed MacInnes was telling the truth after meeting her in person.
MacInnes said she felt unsafe attending the premiere of The Deb due to Wilson's presence and continues to feel vulnerable in the industry. 'I continue to feel unsafe in the industry I had once dreamed of, as Rebel is so well known and I do not yet feel I have enough of a voice to fight back,' she attested.
