Ryanair's Surprising Hand Luggage Items: Ashes and Parachutes Allowed

Ryanair, known for its strict hand luggage size policy, permits some surprisingly unusual items in cabin bags, including human ashes and parachutes. The airline's regulations allow passengers to carry cremated remains onboard, provided they are accompanied by a death certificate and a cremation certificate. The ashes must be securely packaged in a container with a screw-top lid, protected against breakage.

Parachutes, including paragliding wings, are also allowed in hand luggage, as long as they conform to the standard size and weight restrictions. For added peace of mind, passengers can bring their own life jacket, provided it contains two carbon dioxide cylinders and two spares.

Electronic devices are permitted in generous numbers: up to 15 personal electronic devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, cameras, handheld gaming consoles, headphones, and power banks. Each device must not exceed 100 Wh, and spare lithium batteries must be individually protected to prevent short circuits.

Liquids remain restricted to containers of 100 ml or less, all placed in a single transparent plastic bag measuring up to 20 cm x 20 cm. The bag must be sealable and fit within hand luggage. Items strictly prohibited include those that could cause harm or pose a significant danger, though many everyday items are allowed.
