Huge Boost for Brits as Five New Holiday Destinations Added to Green List
Five new destinations added to UK green travel list

British travellers have received a major boost as the government adds five new destinations to its quarantine-free green list. The latest update, announced today, includes popular holiday hotspots like Turkey and the Maldives, offering sun-seekers more options for hassle-free getaways.

Which destinations made the green list?

The newly added countries are:

  • Turkey
  • Maldives
  • Pakistan
  • Sri Lanka
  • Oman

This expansion comes as part of the government's latest travel review, which sees these countries moved from the amber to green category.

What does this mean for travellers?

For fully vaccinated Brits, this change means:

  1. No quarantine required upon return to the UK
  2. Only a Day 2 PCR test needed after arrival
  3. No pre-departure test before returning home

The move has been welcomed by travel industry experts who say it will provide much-needed relief to both holidaymakers and the struggling tourism sector.

When do the changes take effect?

The new rules come into force from 4am on Wednesday, 22 September. However, travellers are advised to check the latest Foreign Office advice for each destination, as some may still have entry restrictions in place.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: "We're making it easier for families and loved ones to reunite by significantly cutting the number of destinations on the red list."

The update also sees eight countries removed from the red list, including Turkey, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Egypt and Kenya.
