YouTube has officially rolled out its brand-new Recap feature for 2025, marking its first major foray into a comprehensive year-in-review for all video content. While the Google-owned platform has offered a music-focused recap similar to Spotify Wrapped for the past three years, this year's iteration is a significant expansion, analysing a user's complete watch history.
What is the New YouTube Recap and How Do I Find It?
Available now for users in North America and rolling out globally this week, the YouTube Recap 2025 provides a deep dive into your annual viewing habits. "YouTube Recap uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year, based on your watch history," the company stated in a press release on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.
To access your personalised recap, you must be signed into your YouTube account. On the mobile app or website, navigate to the "You" tab. Just below your profile details, you should see a banner announcing "Your Recap is here." If the banner isn't visible, you can go directly to youtube.com/Recap from a browser.
However, not every account will qualify. Children under 13, supervised accounts, and users who had their watch history paused or auto-delete enabled are ineligible for the feature, as their data won't provide a full year's insight.
From 'Sunshiner' to 'Philosopher': Your YouTube Personality Type
Moving beyond simple statistics, the revamped Recap categorises users into one of at least 11 distinct personality types based on their viewing preferences. The feature generates up to 12 cards detailing your top channels, interests, and how your habits evolved.
"After digging into how we all watch YouTube, we didn't just see data — we saw personalities," YouTube explained. For instance, frequent viewers of skill-development content may be labelled a Skill Builder, while those drawn to positive videos might earn the Sunshiner persona. Other types include the Adventurer, Creative Spirit, Wonder Seeker, and Connector.
The company revealed that the most common personalities were the Sunshiner, the Wonder Seeker, and the Connector, with the Philosopher and the Dreamer being the rarest.
Music Recap and 2025's Top Trends
The new main Recap also incorporates music. If you've streamed at least 10 hours of music on YouTube, the recap will end with a card summarising your total listening minutes and include a link to a dedicated, more detailed music recap.
Alongside the personalised feature, YouTube published its annual "End of the Year" lists, highlighting the platform's biggest trends. MrBeast was crowned the most-watched creator of 2025. Top trending topics included Squid Game, user-generated Roblox experiences, and KPop Demon Hunters. The Joe Rogan Experience led the podcast charts, and Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga's collaboration "Die With A Smile" topped the most-listened-to songs.
This new, holistic Recap represents YouTube's answer to the popular annual summaries from rivals like Spotify, offering users a compelling and shareable snapshot of their digital year in video.
