Jet2 Confirms 14-Day Document Rule Change Amid Fuel Fears

Jet2 has confirmed that a change in holiday document delivery, which has left many passengers confused and concerned about potential scams, is genuine. The airline has sent emails to all customers with bookings, informing them that their travel documents will now be sent 14 days before departure, rather than the usual 28 days.

Passenger Confusion and Scam Fears

Thousands of travellers received notifications about the change, sparking alarm among those who feared it could be a phishing attempt. This concern was heightened by Jet2's recent warnings about fake social media accounts designed to defraud passengers. One worried customer posted on X: "I've just received this email apparently from Jet2 saying I will now get my holiday documents 14 days before my holiday departure instead of 28, is this true or is it still 28? I've a feeling this was a spam email though." Numerous other passengers reported receiving identical messages.

Jet2 responded on social media to reassure customers: "Yes we can confirm that you will receive your documents 14 days before departure." The airline emphasised that no action is required from passengers and that the emails are legitimate.

Fuel Shortage Concerns

The timing of the document change coincides with growing worries about potential flight disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict affecting jet fuel supplies. The International Energy Agency has warned that Europe has only six weeks' supply of jet fuel, with Iran maintaining control over tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. This has led to concerns among holidaymakers, who have flooded Jet2's social media with questions about fuel shortages and possible cancellations.

Jet2 has assured customers that "flights are planned to go ahead as normal" and promised to contact passengers directly if any changes occur. Meanwhile, easyJet's CEO for Spain noted that while supply issues are not expected for the next three to four weeks, "beyond that, it's difficult to see" what will happen with fuel availability.

Passengers are advised to check their emails carefully and contact Jet2 directly if they have any doubts about the authenticity of communications.
